Venuto al Mondo

Gemma, after many years of absence returns to Sarajevo, bringing her son Peter with her. The occasion is an invitation made to her by Gojko, an outgoing poet and once her guide in Bosnia, for a photographic exhibition on the war. Gemma in Bosnia itself, before the beginning of the conflict, had met Diego for whom she had broken up her own marriage. From Diego, however, Gemma, because of a physical defect, had been unable to have children. But the desire was so strong that she was willing to allow her husband to procreate with another woman who was then willing to give up the newborn. "Venuto al Mondo" is the story of a discovery of an unknown world, of a love sustained by overwhelming passion, with the drama of infertility attached. In 2009 Gemma decided to leave Italy for Sarajevo, taking her teenage son Pietro with her; at the airport she was met by her fraternal friend Gojko, a Bosnian poet who at the time of the 1984 Winter Olympics introduced her to the photographer Diego, with whom she had a love affair, albeit one tormented by the discovery of her own sterility and the use of surrogacy by a Bosnian girl.
