Ivory. A crime story

The elephant population two hundred years ago was ten million. Today they number about half a million and one dies every fifteen minutes. They suffer the paradox of being considered a symbol of power, prosperity and wisdom while at the same time being the object of extermination because of the propitiatory value assigned, especially by religions, to the ivory of their tusks, which are intended for the handcrafted creation of precious objects. The film follows the paths of international and illegal trafficking of the "white gold," in search of the deeper motivations for the slaughter of elephants, and reveals several political contradictions involving all continents. We learn of the fact that ivory has always been a source of funding for all African rebel groups but is not a vector of development for the continent, of China's unstoppable appropriation of Africa, of the hypocrisy of institutions, and of the untouchable corruption of some Asian countries.
