Belcanto

Belcanto is the story of Maria (Vittoria Puccini) and her daughters, Antonia (Caterina Ferioli) and Carolina (Adriana Savarese), and their escape from Naples to free themselves from the oppression of Maria’s violent husband, Iginio (Antonio Gerardi), and pursue the dream of singing in Milan.
The three women are destined to enter the golden and ruthless world of the Opera of the mid-1800s, but they will have to face deceit, betrayal and overwhelming passions. Maria, marked by a mysterious secret she hides from her daughters, pushes Antonia towards success, But the rebellious Carolina seems to possess a strength and charisma that no one had foreseen. Suspended between dreams of fame, jealousies and power struggles, they will find themselves confronted with the harshness of the world they have chosen.
