Mr.Floof

Mr. Floof is a short film that explores the emotional complexity of childhood through the eyes of Elsie, an enterprising little girl who lives with her mother and her new partner. With the help of her inseparable plush bunny, Mr. Floof, Elsie devises a plan to separate the mother from the boyfriend, using a "special candy" from the father. This "candy" is a symbolic element that represents the desire for control and the search for an emotional balance in an unstable family environment.
The short film is distinguished by its visual narration and ability to treat delicate topics with sensitivity and originality. Director Claire Taback Sliney, already known for the Oscar-winning documentary Period. End of Sentence., makes his debut at the fiction direction with this project. Brittany Wang’s script helps to create a story that, despite its brevity, offers a starting point for reflection on family dynamics and childhood emotions.
Mr. Floof had his world premiere at AFI FEST 2024, where he was featured in the live action short film program. The film was appreciated for its ability to treat universal themes with a fresh and engaging approach.
